The former pilgrims’ hostel St. Florian near Laag/Laghetti in the municipality of Neumarkt/Egna is one of the locations where Bolzano/Bozen-born director Maura Delpero’s new film is being shot. Vermiglio tells a story set apart from the fronts of the Second World War that is both shocking and touching. In September 2024, Delpero won the Silver Lion in Venice for the film; in December, Vermiglio picked up a Golden Globe nomination. TAKE has sat down with the director for an on-set interview.
The South Tyrolean Film Fund and Commission IDM supports a total of ten projects for the first call of 2025. Approximately 50 days of shooting for these projects are scheduled for South Tyrol.
The 75th Berlin International Film Festival (13 to 23 February 2025) once again served as an important platform for the international film industry. Between opening day and 19 February, the IDM Film Commission Südtirol attended pivotal industry events and also celebrated the international premiere of the IDM-funded film The Ice Tower that received the Silver Bear.
A quiet project, a local crew, and Maura Delpero, director and screenwriter from Bolzano/Bozen: from a mountain village to Hollywood, Vermiglio has truly come a long way. TAKE revisits the film’s impressive journey.
