Born in Berlin, Joachim Braner grew up in several small towns in West Germany. He holds a degree in Communication Sciences from the Hochschule der Künste Berlin (now Berlin University of Arts). He spent time working as a film buyer for the now-defunct distribution company Jugendfilm-Verleih and as a Head of Development for the Film Fund ViF, which is no longer exists. Joachim often works with his wife, Ariane Homayounfar. Together they have written several TV movies and many episodes of German TV series together, ranging from soaps and telenovelas to medical dramas and crime stories. He has never worked on a comedy series but is very much determined to change that soon.
